Back to school, things anew, fall crispness - oh September, how I love you. I clean, reorganize, and, of course, I shop for new "school" clothes. This year, I found myself honing in on the classics with a slight twist. Pieces that are beautifully made and worth every penny. The things that will never go out of style.
And while I was standing in the dressing room, gauging the fit of a certain jacket, it occurred to me - If it fits and you love it… you cherish it. And aren't all the things we acquire in our lives, particularly the people and the experiences, the same?
There are certain things worth investing in and then there are things that can be replaced. Anything that represents you, that melds into your character is not a one off. It's an investment. Looking at it for a while, sleeping on it, checking it out in the three-way mirror might be necessary.
But certainty - the gut level certainty - often comes in an instant. We know it when we see it, we feel it in our core and as Danielle LaPorte would say - if it's not a hell yes, than it's a no. It doesn't take a three-way mirror to tell if its the right soul fit. But if you're anything like me, sometimes you find yourself questioning that innate level of certainty. And yet, isn't that where we should trust ourselves the most?
Every decision I have made with my gut - the ones where I just knew it was right - have always been, well… right. Those gut instinct decisions have always yielded incredible friendships, opportunities, strength and love. Always love.
That bullseye, straight on gut instinct, the one that yields love, is what it's all about - that and an amazing pair of shoes!
